Welcome to The Society

The Society is a PVE raiding guild that is now recruiting dedicated raiders. We currently raid about 2-3 times a week (Fri->Mon), with raids into Icecrown Citadel and the Trial of the Crusader (alts). We've raided Ulduar, Onyxia, Naxxramas, and the Obsidian Sanctum in the past. We do not schedule raids for Tue or Wed nights. On raiding nights, we aim to start our raids at 8:30PM (pugging could delay us a few min) and run to about 11PM (later on Fri/Sat night raids). We are a laid back guild full of working professions (for the most part that is; we have some college students) who understand that RL > WOW, yet still have a good time killing raid bosses.

In 10-man raiding, we are 6/12 Icecrown Citadel (recently downed Rotface and Festergut!), 12/14 Ulduar, 5/5 ToC, and have downed the revamped Onyxia and Sartharion 3D. We have farmed Sarth, Naxx, and Malygos in the past. We would like to build our 25-man raids back up and are (5/14 Ulduar) and did Onyxia. We have also cleared Naxx, as well as Sartharion w/1D in the past. We would like to find a few more guildies.

Our recruiting status is as follows:

Healers are a priority! Two of our front line healers will soon be afk a bit as they adjust to a lvl 1 pally that should finish the load screen in the next few weeks. Smile

Open: Deathknight, Druid (prefer resto), Hunter, Mage, Pally (prefer Holy/Prot), Priest, Rogue, Shammy, Warlock, Warriors (prefer Prot)

Closed: none

If you raid with The Society, or feel like you have an investment in the guild as a whole, then you should head on over to the Thinking Griffen Tavern and check out the survey on the "state of the guild". You can PM, e-mail, or post your answers and get your input into the hopper so that the guild officers can evaluate what, if any, changes could be made to benefit the guild as a whole.

Please take the 10 or so minnutes it should take to help us make your play experience more enjoyable!

Dragonflyâ„¢ Trial of the Crusader - cleared!
Posted by Mordermi on Friday, October 30, 2009 (15:57:14) (33 reads)

October 23, 2009 (Icecrown) - An intrepid band of 10 warriors, battle-hardened from their battle with the Broodmother, Onyxia, stepped forth into Icecrown's Trial of the Crusader. Freezing from the biting cold after having been roasted, they faced a gruelling series of challenges: Gorlok the Impaler, the two dread wryms, and Icehowl. No sooner had they bested these foes than a foolish gnome summons the demon Lord Juraxxas. Our heroes defeated the demon, only to have the Horde cry "foul" and send their champions to dispatch our party. With guts, grim determination, and fate (luck), our heroes emerge from the champions battle victorious...when Twin Val'kyrs appeared to stop them in their tracks. However, it was the Val'kyrs, not our band of valiants, that were stopped and dispatched with authority. Then, the Spider King. Anub'arak. Reborn from his Azjol-Nerub lair, this fould creature sought to teach our heroes the meaning of the word "defeat". Instead, the King was vanquished and when the dust settled, there was no more. No more foes to face and turn back, no more enemies to defeat....only...VICTORY!!

Congrats to The Society for clearing ToC-10 man for the first time! Check out the Trophy Case for more details on the fights and the lucky Looters. The Society is looking to repeat it's success in coming weeks, along with finishing off Yogg and gearing up for Icecrown Citadel. If you've been taking a break, now is a great time to get back in the game and get loosened up for the fun that will come in pursuing the renegade Arthas, aka The Lich King. Justice will be ours and Glory to the Alliance!

Onyxia Revisted!
Posted by Mordermi on Monday, September 28, 2009 (12:51:04) (42 reads)

This week The Society went into Onyxia's Lair to revisit the Broodmother after her upgrades and retuning. In both 10- and 25-man flavors, we launched an assault upon her and emerged somewhat battered, somewhat charred, but wholly victorious!! (see the Trophy Case for a lesson on watching the tail) A big congrats to all who participated and a reminder that like a phoenix, she shall arise again and must be put back down.

Progression Group Strikes Again!
Posted by Denovan on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 (10:25:31) (64 reads)

Greeting's Folks!

Just thought I would post a bit of an update here for a change.

As of last night our Ulduar progression 10 man added another boss to the list. Freya decided to join the ranks of the fallen.

Mimron was a different story. We managed to make 4 pulls on him last night. The first one we lasted about 30 seconds. The seoncd pull we actually made it to phase two. The third phase we made it to the start of phase three. The fourth and final pull we got all the way to phase three with the bulk of the raid intact and got him to about 10% health. I predict that he will easily join the ranks of the fallen this week!

The count of bosses is now 10 of 14 dead and buried!

New Loot Policy's ~ Everyone must read!
Posted by Denovan on Friday, May 15, 2009 (23:03:33) (51 reads)

Greetings fellow's!

The officers have been working all week and by working I mean slinging verbal insults at each others while trying to hash out a new more balanced loot system.

Head on over to the CoC & Raid Rules forum .

The new rules are in the Sticky thread. The discussion thread is below it. Any posts made on the actual rules thread will be ignored and deleted so make sure when you speak up you post them in the correct thread.

We are asking for input here so don't be shy. Tell us what you think, trust me if you saw what we say to eachother you would know we can take it!

Happy Raiding!

Posted by Denovan on Sunday, April 19, 2009 (11:16:44) (66 reads)

Greeting's Fellows! Well we knew it was coming, 3.1 brought changes to the dynamic of raiding both in the way we look at groups with the availability of Dual Spec and how we look at instances with Blizzards ground breaking Ulduar.

Posted in the forums (FOLLOW THIS LINK) is a list of some things to expect for raiding in 3.1 as well as a updated list of expectations for playing wanting to raid!

Thanks for reading and see you on the flip side!

Dragonflyâ„¢ Welcome to Spring!
Posted by Mordermi on Thursday, April 16, 2009 (19:46:06) (48 reads)

Welcome to Spring! With Spring, we have...new content to play with!

Beware the Patch Boss! Blizzard has been wiping on Patch 3.1 quite a bit, but they keep res'ing the servers and, with luck and a bit of time, we'll be able to get our dual-specs up and running to start playing in Ulduar real soon.

Toward that end, please keep checking the raid site and signing up for raids. Please also be open to trying another instance if Ulduar continues to experience difficulties (falling through the world FTL!).

Happy Thanksgiving!
Posted by Denovan on Thursday, November 27, 2008 (16:13:07) (116 reads)

Greetings folks.

Just wanted to send along a Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours from me and mine.

Lets take a moment and forget about all the "stuff" that really doesn't matter and embrace the things that do.

Stay safe, enjoy the day off and we can pick it all up again on the flip side!

PS: For you last minute shoppers, I hear there is a surplus of wild Turkey's in the Fjord!

Dragonflyâ„¢ So, what do you want to be when you grow up?
Posted by Mordermi on Wednesday, October 01, 2008 (15:23:23) (96 reads)

As the expansion draws nearer and the eve of the last major content patch draws nigh, the officers are starting to look ahead to when we have 10-20-30 level 80 characters, hopefully spread among 20-30 people, so that we can get a feel for (and plan) likely raid group(s) composition.

Please take a moment to visit this thread to share your current plans, especially if you are thinking you might be switching mains to be a backstabby rogue instead of the tree druid you've always been before.

Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Is the site still @#*&^%$-ed or what?
No, I don't think so. It seems the host has fixed the issue that caused the site to be {screwed} up.

2. So we're good then? Cool. What happened?
Yeah, I still don't know for sure. I wish I did.

3. So what's going on in the meantime? Why should I be checking the site?

Excellent question, I'm glad you asked! Whack the "Read More" link and we'll talk about it.
