Summertime!
Posted by Mordermi on Monday, July 26, 2010 (13:39:38) (29 reads)
Once again, summertime is upon us. The days are longer (and hotter), the parks beckon, the pools beckon, the outdoor movies beckon, really...everything beckons. We encourage folks to enjoy themselves so that they don't burnout before we can finish WotLK!
We also encourage folks to keep signing up for raids and join us as we make the push to finish all the regular mode content. In ICC, we've downed everyone but Arthas himself...and we're starting to make progress on him. We've pushed into phase 3 of Halion's Ruby Sanctum without making that a focus yet. Once we beat thsoe, we can dabble in some ICC hard modes that just won't be that hard. We can also work on going back and getting some achievements in places like Ulduar and the Old School raids.
With Cataclysm on the horizon, we have just a little bit more time to finish off the content before there's a whole new world to explore, with new races to level. Enjoy the summer while it lasts, but also come enjoy the little remaining content while it lasts as well!

Good Work Done, but More Remains!
Posted by Mordermi on Monday, April 19, 2010 (14:26:39) (38 reads)
The Society has made some good strides in recent weeks, healing Dreamwalker and killing the Blood Princes in 10-man raids and also putting the 1st wing on farm in our 25-man raids (which are nearly all-guild runs these days!). This leaves us with only 4 unbeaten bosses in Icecrown Citadel---Professor Putricide, The Blood Queen, Sindragosa, and Arthas the Lich King himself---and each of those fights will require coordination and good efforts to beat. In 25-man, we're getting close on Festergut and we've seen that Dreamwalker has a lot going on in the fight...just like 10-man, only more so.
This means we have more work to do! Our tanks should work on crossing 50k health and getting closer to 60k. Our dps needs to be over 5k in 10-mans (more like over 7k in 25s). Our healers need to be doing what they can (if anything) to increase throughput.

25-man Raiding Returns
Posted by Mordermi on Saturday, March 20, 2010 (05:44:39) (78 reads)
After a long hiatus, it seems that we are getting back into 25-man raiding. We've made arrangements with another guild (Aggronauts) to help us fill out our 25-man ICC raid, which is currently running Saturday nights.
Last week was the first week, and saw us down the 1st wing with only a minor hiccup or two. When we ended , it was with most of the raid chomping at the bit to take on Festergut. This week, we'll go back in and see if we can duplicate our success! We are also making an effort to recruit folks. so that we will be able to run all-guild 25-mans, and perhaps make this our main raiding focus. Anyone who is SFC or higher in rank has invite privileges, so if you run with a person who you think would be a good fit for the guild, don't hesitate to extend that invite.

Trial of the Crusader - cleared!
Posted by Mordermi on Friday, October 30, 2009 (15:57:14) (110 reads)
October 23, 2009 (Icecrown) - An intrepid band of 10 warriors, battle-hardened from their battle with the Broodmother, Onyxia, stepped forth into Icecrown's Trial of the Crusader. Freezing from the biting cold after having been roasted, they faced a gruelling series of challenges: Gorlok the Impaler, the two dread wryms, and Icehowl. No sooner had they bested these foes than a foolish gnome summons the demon Lord Juraxxas. Our heroes defeated the demon, only to have the Horde cry "foul" and send their champions to dispatch our party. With guts, grim determination, and fate (luck), our heroes emerge from the champions battle victorious...when Twin Val'kyrs appeared to stop them in their tracks. However, it was the Val'kyrs, not our band of valiants, that were stopped and dispatched with authority. Then, the Spider King. Anub'arak. Reborn from his Azjol-Nerub lair, this fould creature sought to teach our heroes the meaning of the word "defeat". Instead, the King was vanquished and when the dust settled, there was no more. No more foes to face and turn back, no more enemies to defeat....only...VICTORY!!
Congrats to The Society for clearing ToC-10 man for the first time! Check out the Trophy Case for more details on the fights and the lucky Looters. The Society is looking to repeat it's success in coming weeks, along with finishing off Yogg and gearing up for Icecrown Citadel. If you've been taking a break, now is a great time to get back in the game and get loosened up for the fun that will come in pursuing the renegade Arthas, aka The Lich King. Justice will be ours and Glory to the Alliance!

Raiding post 3.1
Posted by Denovan on Sunday, April 19, 2009 (11:16:44) (119 reads)
Greeting's Fellows! Well we knew it was coming, 3.1 brought changes to the dynamic of raiding both in the way we look at groups with the availability of Dual Spec and how we look at instances with Blizzards ground breaking Ulduar.
Posted in the forums (FOLLOW THIS LINK) is a list of some things to expect for raiding in 3.1 as well as a updated list of expectations for playing wanting to raid!
Thanks for reading and see you on the flip side!

Welcome to Spring!
Posted by Mordermi on Thursday, April 16, 2009 (19:46:06) (128 reads)
Welcome to Spring! With Spring, we have...new content to play with!
Beware the Patch Boss! Blizzard has been wiping on Patch 3.1 quite a bit, but they keep res'ing the servers and, with luck and a bit of time, we'll be able to get our dual-specs up and running to start playing in Ulduar real soon.
Toward that end, please keep checking the raid site and signing up for raids. Please also be open to trying another instance if Ulduar continues to experience difficulties (falling through the world FTL!).

So, what do you want to be when you grow up?
Posted by Mordermi on Wednesday, October 01, 2008 (15:23:23) (144 reads)
As the expansion draws nearer and the eve of the last major content patch draws nigh, the officers are starting to look ahead to when we have 10-20-30 level 80 characters, hopefully spread among 20-30 people, so that we can get a feel for (and plan) likely raid group(s) composition.
Please take a moment to visit this thread to share your current plans, especially if you are thinking you might be switching mains to be a backstabby rogue instead of the tree druid you've always been before.

No, I don't think so. It seems the host has fixed the issue that caused the site to be {screwed} up.
2. So we're good then? Cool. What happened?
Yeah, I still don't know for sure. I wish I did.
3. So what's going on in the meantime? Why should I be checking the site?
Excellent question, I'm glad you asked! Whack the "Read More" link and we'll talk about it.

Poll - What nights to raid?
Posted by Mordermi on Tuesday, April 08, 2008 (16:09:26) (195 reads)
Well, now that the site seems fixed, we're making some changes to the forums and also looking at whether we need to change our raiding habits. First up for consideration: what nights should we be raiding 25-man instances?
We've noticed that Saturday is not as reliable a night to raid as it once was. We have traditionally raided Saturday, because most folks can recover from a late night on Sunday. However, it seems that for one reason or another, we aren't getting 25 people to come raid on Saturdays, even when planning to tackle new content that we should be able to beat.
So, please, if you have any interest in raiding above Karazhan before the expansion hits, go to the Society Crier forum and reply to the poll thread with the 3 nights of the week (on average) you would prefer to raid 25-man content. We can't please everyone, but nobody is happy if we are canceling raids due to lack of attendence.

What's Next?
Posted by Mordermi on Tuesday, December 04, 2007 (00:49:37) (226 reads)
So, what's new with The Society you ask? Lots of good stuff going on my friend...let me tell you about it!
Raiding
Karazhan - We've beaten every boss now that Nightbane's bit the dust. We run two groups, mostly to farm Heroic Badges, on the weekends (for now).
Gruul's Lair - We farm High King Maulgar weekly for the T4 shoulders and have beaten Gruul several times. With a little more focus during shatters, this raid instance is on farm.
Zul'Aman - We try this raid once or twice a week. We've beaten the Bear Boss and are working on the Eagle. Wish the gear was a bit better for the level of effort this place requires, but it's a nice change of scenery.
Tempest Keep: The Eye - We are starting this instance this week, beginning with Loot Reaver, er...I mean Void Reaver. Hopefully we'll be writing our "Dear Loot Reaver" letter and farming T5 shoulders very soon.
Once the new year starts...who knows! Maybe we'll see a shift in raid focus as we get more into the 25-man raids and less into the 10-mans.
PVP
We run a fair amount of PVP in the battlegrounds during the day on the weekends (usually either AV or the "Call to Arms" BG of the weekend). There are also several guild-based Arena teams to farm some arena points for Season 3 (and Season 2) gear. We're not a PVP guild, but we're out there having fun and taking a few names.
Alts
With patch 2.3, the ability to level faster through levels 20-60 has sparked a Return of the Alt at theaters near you everywhere in Azeroth. If you can't find your friendly faces and see a ton of names you dont' recognize, check the guild notes and see who's alt is whose.
Like I said, there's a lot going on...stop on in and be part of the fun!
